SOIL PREPARATION FOR SODDING

    Soil preparation for turfing is the same as in the ordinary sowing, i.e. you must:

- dig well or mill the ground;
- remove all rubbish and stones;
- if the superficial layer is quite polluted, you will better entirely change it because the turfgrass will not develop laid on stones or old grass;

- if you have the opportunity you can use the services of specialized companies that will cut away your old grass with a special machine which will save much time and efforts;

- feed with a complex fertilizer applying an exact amount – this will help for the faster grass rooting;

- put the fertilizer with a rake in depth;

- finally rake it one more time to have an absolutely smooth ground – it is important for the good rooting of the turfs;

- roll it;

- if the soil is very dry moisturize it a the day before laying the turf.

    This is the work stage when you must place an order for turfgrass.

THE SOD

    Important! The turf must be developed on the day of the delivery, on the place.

    If the ground is bigger, it is obligatory to expect your orders according to the rate (m2 a day), with which you lay the turf. It must be laid within the time of 48 hours after its extraction.

ADVICES FOR LAYING:

- lay the first bands, leveling them up to a straight rim (house, pavement or lane);
- during the laying be careful not to deform the ground – use boards to move;

- carefully lay the bands one next to another in order to avoid distorting or rumpling
- cut precisely with a sharp knife;

- after the laying water lavishly;

- roll it;

CARES AFTER LAYING

    After the laying the turf roots in the framework of 5 – 10 days. You already have a perfect lawn, but if you don’t take care of it, it won’t last long.

- The most important thing to do is to water immediately after the laying with about 5-10 l/m2 a day. In the course of 10 – 15 days the grass needs enough moisture in order to root. Watering must be done in the morning, for long and lavishly.

- The first mowing must be done in a week. Do not remove more than 1/3 of the grass growth at any time (grass must be mowed at 3 cm height, and in the periods with very high temperatures – from 4 to 6 cm.).
